Portfoliobox is a website builder made for creatives who want to build their own site without needing a developer.
The tool
The admin panel is the tool where they build their sites. The original panel was built around 2019, and by 2025 it was showing its age — not broken, but rough. Five different margin values inside a single wrapper, borders everywhere with nothing to say.
The rebuild
What started as a single task — fix the editor panel — grew into a full rebuild. The UX stayed the same; what changed was everything users had to look at and feel while doing it.
Quieter form
Messy spacing became one consistent rhythm, and the decorative borders disappeared.
The visual form got quieter so the user's content could get louder.
